Loves to incorporate different types of cultures into a blend to create a mixed-genre feel to his songs. Some of these inspirations stem from Anime OSTs, K-Pop, video games, EDM, memes, and more. Born and raised in Fullerton, California, he has been making music since he was 12 while messing around with his dad’s MacBook Pro and discovered Garageband. He has always been interested in mashups from Youtube and have been really curious how to make his own montage. He only started taking music seriously and produced his own songs when he was about 15-16 years old, around his Sophomore year in high school.

Ever since he was a little kid he loved entertaining people and making them laugh with a smile. He grew a passion for singing and playing instruments ever since he was six years old. He realized that music has been a part of his family for quite some time, ranging from guitar players to piano players. He took piano lessons growing up and used his talent to play for the church as a teenager. He eventually fell in love with playing music in his spare time and started learning how to make songs on his Macbook. After creating and perfecting his first few songs and showing it to his friends and family, he received great reviews and feedback from them. He realized he wanted more to do with his music. His passion for the creative arts began there. Learning how to DIY every music technicalities, he started his own musical artist identity as “j. dla.”

He wants his music to reach out to people who can relate and give them a message every time his music is played. If his music has helped people cope and heal themselves, then he treats it as his blessing. He wants those people to enjoy the simplicities of life and to never give up.

j.dla is a storyteller through music.
